Jeff Pfohl – Founder and CEO
Jeff is a former Captain in the United States Marines Corps, where he led a number
of Toys for Tots drives. Following his tour of duty, Jeff saw an opportunity to
continue the tradition of providing toys to needy children in the framework of a
new charity. With a background in rural health and time spent at the University
of West Virginia, Jeff saw that the Appalachia region would be the place to focus
the team’s charitable efforts. He currently lives in Warwick, New York with his
wife and three children.
Bill Walsh – Chief Operating Officer
A New York City Firefighter for 27 years, Bill recently retired as the Captain of
Squad Company 41 in the South Bronx. Bill also enjoys a successful acting career
with roles in major motion pictures as well as regular parts on prime time television
productions. His participation in APPCP continues his desire to help the children
of Appalachia enjoy the holiday season. He currently lives in Warwick, N.Y. with
his wife and three children.

Carol Soreca
Carol is a wife and a mother of two sons. She works full time as a sales representative
primarily working in the pediatric arena. She attended Pace University where she
met her husband of 24 years. Carol has tremendous drive and energy and is committed
to helping the children in our area experience the joy and excitement of the holiday
season. As a mother, she has special place in her heart for those less fortunate
and is eager to expand the role of Appalachia Christmas Project so that all children
across this country can experience the magic of Christmas. She lives in New York
with her husband and two children.
Junior Officers
Evan Balter
Evan is a senior management major in the Smeal College of Business at Penn State
University. Evan is currently interning with the Penn State Team Sports office helping
to promote and run Penn State Hockey. This past summer Evan did the same for the
Penn State football team. This year Evan began participating in the APPCP, with
the help of some friends at school, who all have the passion to help children, Evan
is making an effort to be certain that the children of Appalachia enjoy their Christmas
season. Evan is from Roseland, N.J. and lives on campus during the academic year
in State College, P.A.
